ESCAPE
Like Journey, ESCAPE features five of California’s top rock musicians. A voice like Steve Perry’s is certainly a rare thing, but singer extraordinaire DAVE ALCANTAR not only has the voice, but the look to match what once was Journey’s tuxedo-clad frontman Steve Perry. Whether with the band or on his own, for over the past 30 yrs, David Alcantar has made a living in the music business. One of Southern California’s top live and session singers and songwriters, Dave's voice can be heard along with his great trumpet and keyboard performance in high end establishments in and around Orange County where a diversity of fans enjoy pop, rock, jazz, blues and swing. Dave Alcantar Music & Productions can also deliver a Rock & Roll Legends Show which includes Rod Stewart, Carlos Santana, Elton John, & Bret Michaels in addition to his Steve Perry of Journey.
Musical Director STU SIMONE, keyboards/ vocals/ guitar position, began working as a songwriter and producer before he formed ESCAPE way back in 1996. As keyboardist/ harmony singer for multi-platinum rock band Poison, Stu played to audiences averaging 10,000 a night --totaling some half a million people -- on Poison's 1999 and 2000 headlining world tours, and his playing and harmonizing can be heard on Poison's latest CD, "Power To the People."
ESCAPE lead guitarist/vocalist JAY GORE has established himself as one of LA's top guitarists; his Studio City house band includes members of Toto and (ex-Deep Purple singer/bassist) Glenn Hughes. When he's not playing with Escape, Jay tours with Lauryn Hill (The Fugees) , sexy female sax sensation Mindy Abair and teen singer/actress Hillary Duff ("Lizzy MaGuire" on TV). Besides recent appearances with rock vocalist extraordinaire Glenn Hughes (formerly of Deep Purple), Jay has played with Sly Stone, Boz Scaggs, Edgar Winter, Seal, and several members of Toto. Jay's wide variety of experience comes in handy, enabling him to reproduce the full spectrum of Neil Schon's long and distinguished guitar career, from the searing wah-wah attack of early Journey, through the smooth jazz and blues inflections of late Journey.
Drummer GARY PONDER is one of the busiest drummers in town, with credits including Gary Wright and Maureen McCormick and recent session s with Bunny Brunell and Tony MacAlpine; he is endorsed by top drum maker Drum Workshop, among others. Like Journey's Steve Smith once did, Gary brings incredible technique and a mastery of jazz fusion to the pop & rock party.
DANIEL PEARSON (bass & vocals) Bass Player / Producer / Composer Daniel Pearson was drawn to music at an early age. He quickly began to soak up as many influences as he could from the rich musical culture of his native Chicago. Wanting a formal music education, Daniel studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he received his Bachlor's Degree in Music. Always looking to expand his musical ability, Daniel has continued to study under greats like Tom Barney (Steely Dan, Saturday Night Live Band, Miles Davis) and Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stoness, Sting, Miles Davis, & Modonna).
Daniel's professional career has run the gamut of the Musical World. From Major Tours, National & International Television Appearances, Record Sessions, Television / Film Recording Sessions, Musical Direction and Theater. Daniel has worked with: AR Rahman, Iggy Pop,Jenifer Lopez, Ronny Wood, Taylor Dayne, Clay Aiken, Marcy Gray, Coolio, Sheila E., The English Beat, Dennis DeYoung, Jessica Simpson, Ivan Neville, Pete Escovedo, Blondie Chapi, Peter Mihael Escovedo, Bernard Fowler, The Bonnie Hunt Show House Band, Richie Kotzen, ick achey, Kenny Latimore, Katharine McPhee, Richie Minor and Danny Seraphine.
Altogether, these five California rockers faithfully capture the look and sound of Journey like no one else. With a decade of shows across the US behind them, ESCAPE is earning a reputation as the premiere Journey Tribute in the world!
And now it’s departure time for your ESCAPE to the frontiers of the Journey musical evolution... You won’t believe your eyes... and ears!
